Wonderful summer vacation in the Dolomites - South Tyrol
Are you looking for peace and relaxation? Then you have come to the
right place. Our hotel lies in the panoramic village of Geiselsberg
1,350 m above sea level, above the main village of Olang. From here
you have got a wonderful view of the green Puster Valley, the Dolomites
in the south and several 3,000 m ridges of the Alps in the north.
The hotel's suggestions for a great summer vacation:
Hiking:
Visit the "Conturines-Bärenhöhle" 2.800 m and be guided through the beginning and development of the Dolomites by means of direct contact with the mountains in the Fanes area!
Geiselberg is the ideal starting point for delightful hikes, mountain tours and mountain bike tours in the spring, summer and autumn. Every guest can find his or her own paradise at the romantic Pragser Lake, Antholzer Lake, on the 3 Zinnen, at the earth pyramids in Oberwielenbach and at the national park Fannes - Sennes. If you are interested in the history of art, the Puster Valley has lots to offer.
Bicycle Hikes:
A different kind of hiking! Cycle from Olang to Bruneck on the cycle path and then proceed to Dietenheim. During the break you have the opportunity to visit the Folklore and Customs Museum and get to know more about the life of our ancestors. On the return journey, cycle along the Rienz river to Olang. You also have the possibility to cycle from Olang to Toblach and Innichen, and then further on to Vierschach and Winnebach. From there you can proceed to Lienz in Austria. This path is suitable for all types of bikes and is signposted as a cycle path. Return by train with a special wagon for bicycles.
Flying:
Feel as free as a bird on one of our tandem flights from the Kronplatz
into the valley! The host Mr Eugen of the hotel flies over the hotel with his paraglider!
Rafting:
The river Ahr is an ideal rafting river with crystal clear glacial water, splashing waves, varied currents, interrupted by a shower under the 50 m waterfall. An unforgetable experience! Other activities in our programme include hyrospeeding, kajak tours and canyoning.
Motorcycling:

Fires in honour of Jesus:
Every year, at a Sunday night of June, South Tyrol offers a very special
highlight: High up in the mountains, huge figures are made out of fire,
the so-called “Herz-Jesu-Feuer” (literally: fires for the
heart of Jesus).
This tradition goes back to the year of 1796, when the Tyrolean so bitterly
fought for their freedom and pledged their troth to the heart of Jesus
if they would win the fight. Well, the fight was won by the Tyroleans
indeed and still today, on this special night, they make these huge
fires to honour the heart of Jesus.
Our tip: Huge hearts, crosses and nubers out of fire and glowing chains
all along the ridges may be seen! History and tradition come to life
again...
